Information Technology Academy
What is ITA?
The Information Technology Academy is a California Partnership Academy at Irvington High School designed to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to students who are not traditionally represented demographics in Silicon Valley. Students can enter the program in the 9th grade Pre-Academy and/or in the 10th grade Academy, which is a commitment to a 3 year course of study. Operating as a school within a school, students learn about the Information Communication Technology business sector, with emphases on computer systems, networking and security, while maintaining the academic rigor of traditional high school courses.
Students in the academy... o Explore careers in the information technology industry o Plan for their educational and career goals o Find and work with a mentor o Job shadow in the work place o Go on field trips to engineering schools and businesses such as SEMI High Tech U o Earn industry-recognized certifications (CompTIA A+, CCENT) o Competing in regional tech competitions (Skills USA, U.S. CyberPatriot, CISCO Academy)
